Swedish Study on Mask vs CDC Mask Mandate
According to one of the most outspoken dissenters of mask-wearing, Dennis Prager said: “Mask-wearing represents fear and blind obedience, not science.” What is apparent is that building immunity and social distancing work best. However, CDC has a different opinion.
Swedish study vs CDC
According to Reuters, Sweden’s death rate per capita is several times higher than its Nordic neighbors but lower than several European countries that opted for lockdowns in 2020.
Annals of Internal Medicine
The recommendation to wear surgical masks to supplU.K.t other public health measures did not reduce the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among wearers by more than 50% in a community with modest infection rates, some degree of social distancing, and uncommon general mask use. The data were compatible with lesser degrees of self-protection.
World Health Organization
WHO acknowledges that we lack evidence that wearing a mask protects healthy persons from SARS-CoV-2.
American College of Physicians
Observational evidence suggests that mask-wearing mitigates SARS-CoV-2 transmission, but whether this observed association arises because masks protect uninfected wearers (protective effect) or because transmission is reduced from infected mask wearers (source control) is uncertain.
Mask: “Perfect protection that people think it is,” Fauci
The world listens to Dr. Fauci, who, on March 8, 2020, told a different story about the mask in the program, 60 minutes. Likewise, not all Doctors agree that wearing masks is the answer. In December 2020, Dr. Ramin Oskoui testified in a Senate hearing under oath: “Masks do not work.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci in 2020
“There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask… When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better, and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences…“
New England Journal of Medicine
A study concluded on May 21, 2020: “We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little if any protection from infection…“
Does herd immunity work?
Biologists estimate that 380 trillion viruses are living on and inside you. Like influenza, it kills, but because it has been around for centuries, our bodies (due to repeated exposure) have varying degrees of immunity against the flu virus, according to Dr. F. Younus, Chief of Infectious Diseases at the University of Maryland.
The answer is whether natural herd immunity or vaccines takes time to achieve. Previous outbreaks of H1N1, SARS, Asian flu, or the Spanish flu lasted anywhere from 12 to 36 months.
Sweden’s herd immunity success
Sweden embraced herd immunity, while the U.K. abandoned the idea. Mainstream media said herd immunity did not work. However, current data over time shows it is working. Reuters, in March 2021, reported Sweden saw a lower 2020 death spike than much of Europe.
The UK abandoned herd immunity in Europe
In contrast, excess deaths in England per 100,000 population were about four times those in Sweden for 2019 and 2020 combined, and nearly double those in Sweden for 2020 alone, according to U.K. researcher Nicholas Lewis.
The U.K. abandoned the idea that herd immunity had a higher rate of excess deaths among people under 65 in 2020 than almost every other country in Europe. The worst in the world, NBC News reported.
