Side Effects of Gender Transition Surgery and Puberty Blockers
Bicalutamide
Many transgender clinics prescribe bicalutamide, a medication typically used for metastatic prostate cancer, to boys as a puberty blocker and feminizing agent. One of its side effects is the feminization of male bodies, including breast development.
According to Amie Reed, who worked in such a clinic, one of the patients taking Bicalutamide had liver toxicity, a common side effect of cancer drugs.
He was taken off the medication and sent to another unit of the hospital for evaluation. Later, the patient’s mother sent an electronic message to the Transgender Center, stating that they were fortunate her family was not litigious.
Testosterone side effects
Amie Reed also said that other girls were disturbed by the effects of testosterone on their clitoris, which enlarges and grows into what looks like a microphallus, or a tiny penis. One patient had an enlarged clitoris that extended below her vulva, and it rubbed painfully in her jeans.
